Thanks to the two above, my latest MSC purchase has arrived! Well, I'm not sure replacing a 2-burner Blackstone griddle with a Pit Boss Ultimate 2-burner griddle is truly MSC, but what the heck.
This tuned into somewhat of an ordeal for. I ordered it from Amazon on 8/29, which gave a delivery date of 9/9. That timing worked as I just underwent surgery on my right hand/wrist for inflamed tendons. That was on 8/23, 75th birthday was the next day - what a way to spend my BD). The PB was my birthday present to myself (with SWMBO's OK
) . Well, the griddle showed up on 8/31!
I decided (stupidly!!) to open the box yesterday, just to inspect the contents. There were a number of reviews on Amazon about dented and broken parts, so my reasoning was if that happened to mine, I could return it. Well, being a brain-addled male, box open means - ASSEMBLE IT. Lord have mercy - it took me 2 hours, going very slowly. And some significant challenges. Turns out the bottom shelf was warped/slightly twisted in two corners. I tried calling PB, but all you get a is recording saying "too many calls, try calling later". Well, it is Labor Day weekend, so that's not surprising given that it is the Support line for all Danson's PB products.
Fortunately, the bottom shelf, and most of the cart, is made of what we used to call "pot metal". Very bendable. Using a soft mallet and so pliers I was able to get the holes on the two legs that would not have lined up to allow getting the mounting screws started. Given the softness of the metal, just tightening the screws pulled then into alignment. This proved true for the upper side rails. It also explains why they have those metal rods that mount near the top of the cart - they provide stability.
Anywho, got the puppy assembled and did the initial burn-in. It is a bit odd that the manual says to coat the ceramic griddle with oil to "help prevent rust". I sure hope rust is not a player with this cooker! I plan to make some cheeseburgers tomorrow. Oh Boy!
