Well I let the MCS win. Found a sale price on the 3 burner version of this griddle which is the size I really wanted. $449 with drive through pick up about 8 miles from my house. Picking it up in a little bit. The Walmart version of this size at $397 is sold out everywhere near me so this is the best I can do this season it seems. But of course now that I said that, it’ll show up for less next week. That’s usually how it goes for me.

Ok Uncle Bob You win! I’m probably gonna get the 2 burner model since it’s just me. I have a question though. The propane tank, I can’t tell from the pics, but how is it supported? Is there a bar on the side where the tank hangs from? And is it supported somehow at the bottom also? Bogy I saw where you have one too, feel free to chime in as well. On the Pit Boss website this one is $599. I saw it online at Lowes for $549. Does anyone have other suggestions on who to order from, if I can’t find it in a store? I really like that cool looking Pit Boss tank cover too.

Thanks Bob. It’s not that I’m prissy, it’s just that I expect hot chicks will soon start to swarm my patio with that tank cover showing.Last edited by Panhead John; July 1, 2022, 07:01 PM.

I don't even know what to say...
I never really considered a griddle before, heck, I don't even have a grill that works properly yet.
Everything on good time I guess
Nice work on the review Uncle Bob. Thank you! Great commentary from every one else.
It certainly does look very sharp. Maybe someday...

The hardest part for me and took forever, was getting that first leg attached to the bottom shelf. It was a bitch for me, being with no help. The side shelves at the end, weren’t too bad for me actually. But I did drop each of the 4 screws a few times though.Last edited by Panhead John; July 15, 2022, 02:12 PM.

Uncle Bob -----> That's very informed description review and answered many questions had on the Ult. PB. THANKS --- Do have some opinion questions (info) would like to ask. Looks like cooking area is same on both 4 & 5 burner just drain hole location different on 5 and the 5 has cabinet style cart with the LP tank inside cabinet cart. The 5 burner is about $200 more which isn't an issue. Leaning towards the 4 burner only because of where the drain hole is located think I'll like it better there. question ----> Do you see where there could be any issues (advantages) on the 5 burner with drain hole located left center while using yours with drain hole bottom left? On the 4 burner can the LP tank be put under it inside the leg bracket?Last edited by wag; August 22, 2022, 09:11 AM.

wag let's get the tank question out of the way first. You might be able to wiggle it under there, but the brace wires/brackets get in the way, and there'd not be a proper clamping device to help keep the tank upright if movement occurred, so I'd prefer to say it's not advisable.
On the griddle surface size difference, the 5 burner is actually slightly larger by about 25 square inches.........not much of an actual functional difference. I saw where Amazon listed the 4 and the 5 burner as the same square inches but that's likely a typo as the official PB site has the different numbers. There is another difference though besides the burner count and a tiny difference in total btu rating. All 5 burners on the 5 model are straight, or inline, tubular burners whereas the left most burner on the 4 (and smaller models) is a "D" shaped unit. I've not used the 5 burner so will project based on other straight burner models. As would be expected, the most intense heat is in the area immediately above each burner and then tapering off from there across the surface. With the "D" shaped burner you get a bit different pattern that causes the more intense pattern to be a circle with a very, very slightly lower temp in the middle of the circle and less going outward from the burner area. Some might imagine this to be a "problem", but experienced griddle cooks see it as a functional tool to take advantage of when knowing how to work varying temps to advantage. I'm not sure what the reason is, but the area over that left most burner runs roughly 30 or so degrees less than the inline burners, but again, I see that as a good tool. I rarely run mine over medium anyway, so if I wanted "even" heat all the way across I could get there by turning the left most one higher. In reality I use that as my "cooler" zone to slow down any portion of the cook that needs to coast in to finish less aggressively than the other portions of the cook.
As for the drain location I prefer the lower left corner. I could probably use the 5 burner mid location just as easily, but the front location is my preference. Not just because it's habit, but also because I will rest my primary spatula in that corner because it's coolish, and any oil that drips from the spatula when not actively scooping/scraping/positioning stays on the griddle top to be wiped off more easily (a small point). Also, the catch bin coming straight out the front just feels more convenient to me.

Uncle Bob Thanks for opinion. Yea think like the grease cup in front also and drain in corner. Can just drag food against left cool side edge without worrying about that hole if in left center. Also thinking (do you do this?) about front of griddle a tad lower for oil drain towards front for use later in cook and if not used just drag oil to left in drain hole.
About putting LP tank under it inside leg bracket. Thinking about cutting hole in bottom shelf (like on the 5 burner has) for tank to sit in. I wouldn't use (install) the side shelves because it would butt (left) up against a granite counter cabinet and have a granite top rolling table against its right side. That's why trying to get tank mounted under it.
