    Which SS 22" grate?

What's the best one available and why? Or do I buy a Santa maria attachment first instead (MCS is raging in my blood stream right now)?

I'm leaning toward the Killa Grilla for my next (and last) replacement. http://killagrilla.com/

Looks like Grilla might just beat the Easy Spin. Thanks for the tip

Both the Killa Grilla and SnS Easy spin are 304 stainless but the SnS is almost 30 bucks cheaper. I had one when i had my kettle and it was a beast. Didnt do much cold grate or spinning but i dont see that matters one way or the other.

The KG is .25" wire which is nice and big but i cant remember what the easy spin is. All i know is I really liked the easy spin and wouldnt have been looking for a replacement any time soon when i had it.

I like a thicker grate but also like the bigger opening on the easy spin. One if the Amazon reviews is pretty critical of the easy spin saying thye expected a less flimsy grate based off of the other ABCBBQ products they own. That's why I made this thread.

I didnt find it to be flimsy at all. Customer service at SnS/ABC grills is fantastic so reach out and ask since i didnt see the width posted in their description. Wouldnt be half surprised if you heard back tonight.

I've got both the Killa and SNS grates. Love them both. The reason I use the SNS more often is the flap door. Actually I removed mine. I bought a solid Killa and although it has true 1/4" bars, it's very heavy and won't spin as easily. If you do go for the Killa be sure to get the floppy door model. But I still say the SNS is the better value. You won't be dissatisfied with either, I'm so glad I was able to ditch my annealed and chromed grates !!

I doubt I'll get a sns for this grill so the flap matching its size exactly isn't that important but I do like a bigger flap. If I go Grilla I'll get one with the opening.

grantgallagher here's the pic from the review I mentioned. He would prefer a thick grate as would I.

BTW, I opted for Santa Maria first. I'll upgrade the regular grate later. I can't wait to grill a Tri-tip on this thing. When I bought my Performer recently I realized it would provide a nice stable base for raised grate grilling.

The Santa Maria arrived today and I'm impressed with the build quality especially for under $100. I pulled a tri-tip out of the freezer for later this week. This will be the maiden voyage for this attachment as well as for the Performer I bought it for.

Attjack I've posted numerous cooks on it. Mostly steaks, lamb and pork chops. Chicken sometimes but it's a little more finicky. That and veggies or all sorts. I use mesquite and oak splits so I love the flavor it imparts to whatever I'm cooking.

Troutman I've been wanting to pick up some oak for the firepit and now I pretty much have to. I'll cook that tri-tip over charcoal though in the meantime.

Tri tip, flank, flap et.c. Typical 'steak' material. I did one yesterday with oak wood. Even though it technically qualifies as grilling, the smoke from the oak wood sure adds a nice flavor. And I love the simplicity of this style of cooking.

Well, I know you didn't get a grate, but I'll add my 2 cents.

I had the Easy Spin and I never found it floppy, wobbly or flimsy - and I flopped 18+ lb briskets on it multiple times (air flow suffered immensely, but man was it cool seeing that big of a brisket in a kettle!

I've also had 4 racks of ribs on it (courtesy of a Weber rib rack ) as well as chicken. I found it to be sufficient for those tasks, though I'm not a spinner of grates either.

I kind of hijacked my own thread didn't I?

I will be strongly considering the easy spin for a grate upgrade when I get a new grate.

Back to the subject of SS grates, I stumbled upon this one. The handles are removable which I think might be nice. It claims to be 304 SS although one reviewer thinks it's plated.

Probably time to update this thread a bit.. since it's been a few months.

Amazon abounds with dozens of possibly sketchy SS grill grates, but I've only ever used the Weber ones.

My first one lasted 5 years (from 2008?), then the next one was 3 years, then 2 and 2. They seem to be getting cheaper and cheaper in construction, even as the price has climbed from from $18 to $30 over that time.

I'm looking for a good, but not too expensive, SS grill grate. Any ideas or advice now that we're well into 2021?

I've seen the SnS EasySpin at WamLart online for $60. It says it's the 22" version, but I'm suspicious. What do you guys think?

BBillFleet I think we need to have David Parrish comment on whether he has Walmart.com hawking his products for less than he sells them for. I can confirm that they directly lifted text and photos from the SNSGrills.com website, but its selling for $15 less than direct.

What is even weirder is that Walmart.com also shows the SNS Grills Elevated Cooking Grate - for $75, or almost twice its $49 selling price!

Yes, making not much sense. I'll pull the trigger on it; I can probably return it if it's not right (or the wrong size). It does repeatedly say it's the 22-inch version.

But then, I don't want to cause harm to @David Parrish, or steal food, hopefully good BBQ, out of the mouths of his starving children...

Wow, that came fast. Less than 24 hours! Of course, his place in Concord is 20 minutes away from here.

Appears to be the right item, and non-magnetic as well. Cool beans!

So did it ship direct from SNSgrills, i.e. fulfilled by them, versus coming from Walmart?
