Sorry, I've been MIA for a while. I am back teaching in the classroom full time again and it is weird with all the new hygiene regulations in place.

I have not had a chance to look into the PBW as of yet but I did find some brass brushes like Hawker posted and they were pretty effective. They didn't get it all but the grate was pretty clean. I am going to look into replacing the grate as Panhead John mentioned. I really can't stand the Weber grate with the hole thing right in the middle that, yes, always falls out. I find it a big nuisance.

Thanks for all the suggestions, and yes, I tried some heavy duty oven cleaner and it worked pretty well too.

I purchased a Camp Chef 36 Windwood and they designed this right. The 3 grates are The perfect size to fit in my dishwasher. As for the top racks and the lower plate, I got a tub for mixing concrete from Amazon so I can soak those and clean them.

Pressure wash, steam clean, oven cleaner, soak in a solution....WOW. I do have to say that many of you are much more concerned about cleaning the grates than I am. I do the same as Dadof3Illinois, put them in my gas grill for 20 minutes, use a welding brush and that is good enough for me.

Propane weed burner...Wire brush and wipe with damp paper towel. Easy Peasy.
