First Cook on New To Me Weber Performer

First time ever using a Weber Kettle. Cooked split breasts up in Maine. Indirect with a Slow and Sear. Temp was around 400 for 45 minutes or so. Seasoned with chicken Salt. Skin was nice and crispy and meat very juicy. Very tasty!

I'm sold on the Performer. It's a great grill.

Nice cook, and a great way to break in that new Performer. Enjoy many, many more great cooks on it in the future. You've got the killer combo, a Performer and an SnS.

Weber kettles are gratifyingly easy to use.

Looking forward to more pics on your new grill.

Looking good! I had a Performer for close to 15 years. Made many great meals on it. If I didn’t put a built in charcoal grill in my outdoor island last summer I’d definitely get another one! Actually, I’d like to have one to take camping...might have to keep my eyes open for a good deal.

I choose the Weber over the BGE about 2:1. Nothing wrong with the BGE, but with just me and Mrs now, I can use the S&S to reduce the grate size, and have half a chimney roaring by the time I get all the other prep done. Then it’s dump, grill, dine. Just as quick as a gasser. All you need to do is remember to start the entire meal by firing the charcoal first.

The S&S makes it super easy to do two zone cooking. I bought this grill used and it has a gas starter system. I dump in the charcoal and just turn on the gas to light. Very easy.

You just gave me an idea for next weekend! Looks delicious!

i love the combination of a Weber kettle & SNS. You can use it as a smoker too. Seal the rim with 4 large binder clips if you decide to try it — it really helps the temperature control.
