I had to leave work early today because of a toilet emergency. Damn thing decided to start leaking where the water line attaches to the tank valve. I also learned the shut off valve doesn’t completely close, because I thought I had turned it off last night but nope.

Anyhow after I got home and fixed the issue (only one trip to the hardware store this time) I decided to go to a brewery. But on my way to the brewery what to my wondering eyes should appear? A perfectly good kettle on the side of the road! Less than a block away from my house. A cheap kettle, but still. Has a lot of life left. No rust, grill grates are in good shape, the cart is in good shape, the bottom vents open and close easy - looks like it was used once or twice.

Update: I think this house is a rental. Not 100% on that but it makes sense. The renters moved out but left the grill because it isn’t terribly expensive, it is bulky, and there were ashes in it. The landlord, not wanting to deal with it, just put it out to the curb hoping someone would remove it for them.

And I am not above finding things being thrown out and salvaging them. One reason why I simply cannot part with my truck. I never know when I will find trash pile treasure. When I do, in the open bed pickup truck it goes.

My biggest score was a fully functional Ms. Pacman game in a cocktail table console. The kind that would reverse the screen for player 1 and 2. With a plexiglass cover so you had a place to put your drink. The cabinet was in bad shape, but the electronics worked. Fixed the cabinet and free classic arcade game. It wasn’t Donkey Kong or the first Mario brothers game, but whatever. I’ll take it. Used it for a bit then sold it.
