Island of Misfit Cookers: New Arrival...

Now, by now I'm certain most yall jus know I'm a sucker fer homeless Webers, needin adoption, I'd reckon...

Well, come longa bout 2 weeks ago, I checks CL, an sees me a Weber Performer 15301001 offered up, at $150...roughly a ~40% discount offa Amazon's $249 Prime price, ~50% offa MSRP...

I saw it was in good shape, but resisted th urge, initially...

Thought, a few times, over shootin th seller a counter-offer, but never acted upon it; jus renewed th link, each day, figgerin it'd be gone, an I'd be offa th hook, so to speak...

When I refreshed 3 days ago, though, he had dropped it to $75...much closer to my price point...

Again, thought bout sendin a counter-offer, but didn't wanna insult, so I jus ignored it, figgerin it would go away...

After some ruminatin, an brainstormin, I come to th conclusion that this could be useful, that there are myriad things I could do with this, such as CL, or WKC a cart fer th schmancy Performers, from somebody who's made a kewl kart fer theirs, or, jus make a kewl kart...

Well, without hagglin, I contacted th seller, verified it was still available, an offered up my willingness to come git it outta their way...

It took a few days of coordinatin our activities, but I was able to go pick her up, today...

Bones, you’re going to need a bigger place if you keep taking in all these strays!

Seriously though you should get a humanitarian or preservation award or something for saving all of these cookers from a would be scrap yard or dump and returning them to some form of glory.

    Kudos

That’s an awesome score, Bonsey! I wish I came across deals like that, although, it’s probably best I DONT come across deals like that....... Household 6 would not be nearly as enthusiastic as I would be!

And oh by the way, almost forgot, I was doing a SVQ tri-tip last night and got out Joey (my new Jumbo Joe) and cranked him up for the final sear. So easy and clean up is a breeze. Anyway, the wife looks out the window and sees Joey on the table smoking away. Now to set the scene, she doesn't know about Joey, kinda, sorta forgot to tell her about the sale at Lowe's for $29.95, couldn't resist, had to have it, the MCS itch, well YOU KNOW.

So anyway I start doing a fancy back peddling, my speech already prepared in my mind. Now it was just our anniversary and she got some jewelry but I thought, no I need to save that excuse for a bigger moment. Instead I pull out the BONES card. "But dear", I says while crabbing and groveling, "Mr. Bones, this guy on AR, has been out saving the world, one Weber at a time. I just saw this poor dusty box on the clearance shelf, it looked so lonely and innocent, I just had to buy it and give it a home."

Of course that didn't work, dang it. Now she wants me to get rid of something else to make room for Joey. Yea right like that's going to happen. Needless to say I maned up and told her that I wasn't anywhere near done with my collecting cookers just like she wasn't any near done with her jewelry collecting. Oh crap, the moment I said it I knew at once I'd blown any hope of using the jewelry excuse at some future date and incurred her wrath all at the same time. Guess where I slept last night.

I need some AR friendly help in my time of need. Please provide me with some solace Mr. Bones.

Lol. Them wives. They just don't understand. Cookers and guitars & amps, my wife thinks getting an 8th of either is too many. Shoes, rings, necklaces, I bring that up and I get the look...

Ya might point out both how inexpensive Joey was, an how economical, quick, an convenient he is to use; saves a lot on charcoal an wood, produces great food, etc.

              Troutman

Plus, he was 50% off!!! Who could resist that??,

Hail, jus show her pics of my yard, mention there's more in th house, an garage, an spread all over th surroundin counties..

Glad I can serve as a Bad Example!!!

Alright Mr. Bones nice pick up. I saw one on craigslist for 100 too, but i resisted. Troutman, last night I was cooking a couple of butts for a church event today and told my wife how much i enjoyed doing it and mentioned that i saw the weber on craigslist but passed it up, and she said i should have got it cause it would have made me happy. I was shocked! Then she mentioned the purses she bought last week...
