After owning a 22" Weber kettle for many years, I am now the proud owner of 26-incher--complete with S'n'S and D'n'G, yet I don't feel too guilty. Here's the story:
My wife volunteers at a nearby state park and it turns out that many (some, anyway) of the rangers are kind of nomadic, roaming from park to park, and thus don't have much in the way of "pots to pee in". It's an enviable life in some ways...for someone much younger than I. Anyway, a young feller she works with just got selected as a permanent ranger and he's found himself a "real" place to live, so, now he wants to do some real Q. He had a housewarming party recently, so we gave him the 22-incher (plus the accompanying S'n'S and D'n'G) AND my first ever smoker--a Brinkmann R2D2. I tell ya, that Brinkmann made some fine Q, as, of course, did the 22" kettle.
So, here I am with minimal guilt, a bigger kettle, improved ash collection, and a little bit more room on the patio! Win/win, I say.
Kudos to David Parrish , btw, for inventing something that turns kettles into such versatile cookers and thanks to AR for teaching me how to use it well!
