What do you use your triangle for?

Chimney? Grill brush? Vortex? Slow n Sear? Something else?

    #2
if you mean the imaginary spatial one, then using the KBQ, it's splits, poker and gloves and any food conveyances, and the cooker.

If it's the BGE, usually the Smobot controller, any food movement tools and gloves and food conveyances, and the cooker.

If it's the Ooni Pro, pretty much just like the KBQ, though it's a different triangle in each case.

I was thinking in terms of the cooking area triangle, but maybe you meant something else?

I see how I got confused. I view through new posts, and missed this was on the kettle section. Sorry about that.

No need to be sorry. Glad you stopped in.

Haha. I had to think for a bit. I assume you mean the wire triangular storage "shelf" (if you can call it that) underneath some of the standalone kettles. It's not MUCH of a shelf - that's probably too generous of a word.

I never stored anything on it, as the dang 1997 kettle would fall apart any time I rolled or carried it too far, unless I carried it by the legs. The legs didn't stay in the body well, and invariably a leg would fall off while rolling, the round ash catcher disk would fall, and the triangle would be all that was holding the 3 legs together...

Although I don't really like the tripod design I've had better luck than you, and my triangles are sturdy enough for something. But I've never really liked the look of grill brushes sitting there. My SnS usually just stays in the kettle. I've considered building a nice wooden box to sit on it, perhaps for thermometers, but I haven't gotten serious about it yet. Talking about the 26 here.

On my 22 I tend to use the triangle for my chimney and a brush.

I currently have a single solitary chunk of wood on mine (species unknown by now). I have a BBQ Dragon 'Dragon Wing' shelf on my 22", which butts up to my 26", and that with the deck rail hold all of my stuff so I don't really use the triangle much.

What's the wood for? To add weight?

Attjack Great question. No one knows. We'll go with "to add weight".

I used to have a few rounds of cherry on mine. Looked pretty sharp but I burned them.

Found a pic of those nice rounds of cherry!

EdF I made a thread on the Weber kettle forum. But I could see missing that detail. That's easy to do.

I like Huskee’s view of things. Perfect placement & use of space.

I don't use it for anything. IMO, it's just for structural stability.
