Picked up this sleek black beauty for $100!

I've been watching this thing all summer at Home Depot waiting for it to drop below the already marked down price of $186. I had a negotiation pitch all prepared for the manager. He showed up, I told him I'd like to offer $100. Before I could launch into my pitch, he didn't hesitate and just said "fine - just give them my name at the register". Of course on the drive home I had to work out the pitch I was going to give my wife. She's easy going knowing she gets to share in the output.

Great purchase! I love the Performer. I have a green Performer Deluxe made in 2007 and love it.

Interesting thing though is that you somehow got a Gen 3 Performer, which was replaced by Gen 4 in 2015. All current Performers have a steel table - your picture shows the thermoset table they made from 2005 to 2014 or 15. He probably was ready to get rid of a 3-4 year old display model, is my guess at why he was so willing to come down.

Keep a cover on it, and you should have no issues. A lot don’t like the thermoset tables, but I’ve got them in great shape on a 2002 Genesis and 2007 Performer. I think if you left it out in the sun for 15 years without a cover it might crack or get discolored. I like the thermoset tables personally, and just spray it down with chlorox cleaner before/after each cook. The large work surface is the awesome thing about the Performer.

Those of us who have spent some time with a grill know that there is a constant need for a table close by.  Whether it’s staging food about to be cooked, a place for spices and condiments, or a surface to set down those perfectly cooked steaks right off the grill, a table is almost...

Cool - thanks for the background on the different generations. I've been cooking on a pellet smoker and needed to pick up some more cooking capacity for a big cook I'm doing for my daughter's sorority next month. This was a relatively inexpensive way to do that and I get to learn a new cooker.

You’ll enjoy this jerrybell - it’s a great charcoal grill, and even without a Slow ‘N Sear is also a great smoker. Different flavor and experience than pellets. For indirect without the SNS I would use the snake method.

That is excellent, you will love it. I have concentrated much of my cooking this summer on my Weber Performer, and the more I learn the more impressed I am. The value is off the chart.

Thief! Nicely done. Might cost you more for the SNS and vortex to go with that new toy though.

Like said above, I keep my eye on craigslist and if one comes along at that price its usually a hunk of junk. Also, yes the plastic table has been replaced. If you should have a problem with yours (mine cracked from me pushing it all over my yard following the shade) within the 10 year warranty Weber will replace it with the metal one. Look here to find your date of manufacture and other interesting Weber info.

What a steal! Great job. Have had my Performer for years and could not live without it. I started with the old Smokenator and then got the SNS 2 years ago. I scour Craigslist and the $100.00 Performers I have seen are neglected, worn out, broken table, rust buckets. You got a "smoken" deal. Congratulations.
