First I've heard of this. I'm not clear on if we can expect to see it in the US, and if so when.

The addition of a sear grate sounds great. The Char Ring and diffuser sound interesting as do the improved venting.The hinge however seems almost comically oversized to me. How heavy is the lid?

Interesting. At first I thought it opened up along the side like a French door, like the Grilla.

That would be something wouldn't it? What the cut away does show us is a view of the sear grate. It's funny I've been thinking about installing one on my 26. Meathead had mentioned, in the book I think, that you can raise the charcoal grate to get a better sear. I liked that idea, but thought maybe it made more sense to add a lower cooking grate. Looks like Weber is way ahead of me.

This appears to be a scaled down single walled WSCG. When I recently put mine together I wondered about the seemingly unnecessary tripod leg tubes. That lead me to wonder if there was some downgraded but similar option in Weber's inventory. The shape, hinge, and many components are very similar, if not identical. You can't see the traditional style leg tubes in this photo, but a lot matches up.
