Weber Performer Metal Table Top Upgrade

For those of you that have a Gen 2 or 3 Performer, there's a metal table top that is nearly a direct fit to replace the fiberglass top you can't clean...

I just picked up a Gen 2 Performer in BLUE, and am adding an accurate thermometer low to the grate, a grommet for temp probe lines, a gasket, and a new metal prep-area top. The link for one of the suppliers of the top is below. Your Performer may require two new holes drilled, and a nut and bolt for the tip-out charcoal/waste bin - it may not. Regardless, you can have a new top in 15 minutes or less. All the reviews were 5 stars.

Nice. I had admired your Craigslist score, but thought to myself that if I bought it I would definitely replace the table.

Thanks - I was thinking I'd have to use a weird spray paint until I found the metal top. This will be a fun addition to the clan, and I'll mod it right to make it useful for years...

FYI. The plastic table is covered under Weber 10 year warranty. They don't make the plastic one anymore so they'll send you the metal one. Check your date stamp on the lid vent to find date of manufacture then look here weberkettleclub.com/determine-age-of-old-grill/

That's awesome. I need to replace the table on my Performer. I cracked where the screws attach it to the frame. Thanks for the info!

Good call, this would be my first upgrade to this grill. I love my metal table top, and it is easy to keep clean and looking new.

I've yet to have any issues with the thermoplastic table on my 2007 Performer, and found that cleaning with Chlorox and the occasional magic eraser take care of any stains. If it ever gets bad or breaks, I'll get one of these metal ones. For now it matches the thermoplastic on my 2002 Genesis!

The metal table is much easier to clean, but does show charcoal dust more than the older table.

It's been windy lately. Every time I open Lucille my black dragon shelves get covered.

That's not a negative for me. I can see exactly where the dirt is that needs to be cleaned off.
