Two butts over beans

If it were me, I'd base that upon what cooker, how hot yer runnin yer cooker, an how big a pot o beans ya got...
In my world, gittin em more smokey, an more drippins is a plus; others have their own valid preferences...
Start of cook, they're likely gonna be done way long before yer butts, so ya can hold, or reheat. Dependin on yer cooker, an fuel(s), though, that's when th most smoke often happens.
Last two hours will likely git ya lighter smoke profile, mebbe less drippins, as th butts are already purty well barked over...
In general, I'd probly set em in my cooker, an hour or two after I started th butts, but distant from th direct heat...let em soak up some smoke, stir em now an again...
After they been on an hour or two, why, then I'd slide em up underneath, to catch what should be an actively drippin PB...
Keep an eye on em, so's they don't stick, or burn...
If they git done before yer PBs, jus double cling wrap th pan/pot, then HD foil it, hold in oven on lowest settin, typically ~ 170°...they'll be jus fine...
Jus one of many takes, I'm certain others will offer some great advice, soon!
Btw, Howdy from Kansas Territory, Welcome to Th Pit!
Glad to have ya here, to learn along with me!
Might wanna slide on over here, next, an introduce yerself, all proper like, so's folks can git to know ya.
