In my recent move I gave away my Weber Kettle. It was the very basic 22" model. My ulterior motive was to get a new one when I got moved. I want the ash catcher more than any other feature of the fancier models but will be looking at all options. I just recently became aware of Napoleon charcoal grills. I knew about their gas grills and just bought one (unveiling and first cook posts coming up later today). I would appreciate comments from anyone who has cooked on both Napoleon and Weber kettles. In looking, I like the three piece cast iron cooking grid and the three positions of the Napoleon. I know Weber has more aftermarket accessories, but since they're nearly the same size, won't they mostly fit the Napoleon, too?

Masterbuilt smoker, gas
Future build, 80 gallon tank hybrid, pellet/stick burner

I would stick with the Weber as the Slow N Sear is made for that and that is the perfect accessory for a kettle IMO.

I would second Powersmoke_80 suggestion. I have a Napolean gasser & think it’s great. But why mess with tried proven success. I think the SnS is as important as the Weber. They belong together as in inseparable. A kettle is a kettle is a kettle, but a Weber with an SnS is a complete cooking apparatus, emphasis on the complete. Mo better, much Mo better.Last edited by FireMan; July 15, 2018, 07:01 AM.

Weber Kettle with an SNS
Masterbuilt kettle that I call the $30 wonder grill
Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
I agree with FireMan that the SnS is what makes a kettle complete. Now, I don’t have a Weber, yet. I have a $30 Masterbuilt kettle with a SNS that was added on a few months later. I bought the $30 wonder kettle on a whim one day when I wanted to cook paella on coals and flame. I figured $30 was nothing, if I didn’t care for the cooking style, then not a huge investment. Well, that was last October and I have now found that I use that more than I expected and am looking at upgrading to the WEBER Performer because I really like the flavor the coals give and want the side table. And, the $30 wonder kettle will head to the Lake for some on the beach cookouts!
so, my point, as Mr. Bones has said to me, it’s more about the chef than the cooker. Find what you like and cook it up!
also, I saw the Napoloean Kettle this week at a shop and was really impressed with it. Especially the metal side table and construction. I wasn’t sure if it would hold the SnS, but it did impress me. But, I’ll probably still end up with the Weber., because, well, it’s a Weber.

Cookers:
Broil King XL
Broil King Smoke
Weber Kettle 26
Grilla Pellet smoker
Capital 40 natural gas
Napoleon Pro 22 kettle
Thermometer:
Maverick 733
Thermapen (ok..4 thermapens)
Thermo works DOT (or two)
Fireboard (probably my favourite)
Thermworks Smoke (or two)
Accessories:
SnS (original, plus and XL)
DnG pans, 6 or 7 of these
Vortex
Grillgrates
and, maybe some other toys as well
I have the Napoleon 22 and the Weber 26. The Napoleon is a really nice cooker. I like the three heights and it does fir the SNS perfectly as well. I have the Pro, which comes with the lid on a hinge, kind of a nice feature although it makes it tough for rotisserie or a pizza oven kit.

Weber provides a few advantages. Replacement parts can be found at just about any hardware store (grates, etc). They provide great customer service and their quality control on the construction side is top notch. Also, because they are so ubiquitous a wide range of accessories can be added. Example: I have the rotisserie ring and the Kettle Pizza for my 22 and the Arteflame for my 26. The ash catcher works really, really well and is good for 4-5 cooks before having to be emptied, which is really convenient.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
They aren't that different, it's a bowl to put charcoal in with a lid and grates. You will be happy with either I think.
