Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

I've used the SnS extensively and what I've discovered is it's not so much a rigidly and narrowly-conceived device but it's a device built around a concept that tends to work well in most cookers - 2-zone cooking has been recognized as optimal for cooking going back far longer than outdoor cooking burst on the scene - think about cooking stew stove-top and then covering the cast-iron pot and moving into an oven to finish the dish. The SnS concept can be applied to an overwhelming majority of outdoor cookers because it is engineered to draw a hard-line between the 2 cooking zones.
The fact that ABCBBQ customizes its concept to a huge variety of cooking devices pretty much guarantees long-term success for the company from my perspective.
The SnS perfects the direct-indirect paradigm. Then, at least as it pertains to the Weber Kettle, it turns a device that was never designed for low/slow into one hell of a nice smoker. The Smokenator pioneered this and developed a cult-like following, a nice internet presence, etc. Incredibly the SnS is a better (in terms of ease of use and less baby-sitting) conversion kit from kettle-to-smoker accessory than the Smokenator and it is the best 2-zone cooker accessory that I'm aware of and that is something the Smokenator isn't even capable of.
