Limited Edition Red Kettle Discounted, But Not Enough for Me

I was at my Home Depot today and saw this limited edition red kettle marked down to $111.75. Then I looked it over. I may go back and offer them $39.95 and explain why so low (porcelain damage is a big big deal, purchase parts & shipping, damage I didn't see). They'll probably not accept but the worse they can say is no. I'll offer to leave my name and phone number in case they have trouble selling it, and if they call, my price will go down a bit more.

Here's what you'll see in these photos:
    • Looks good when you are passing by. Red always looks good
    • Large area of porcelain missing - over 1" in diameter.
    • Handle has black tie-wraps because the screw is missing and the metal handle is slightly bent to one side.
    • All 3 legs are missing the clips.
    • Top has an area where it's taken a hit, but most of that may come out.
    • Rollers missing for lid holder on both sides.
    • Lid handle has a little damage .
The inside looks good, the ash sweep works fine and the ash pan removes and re-attaches ok. I looked and no hardware bag inside with the missing pieces.

Ah...nah. Someone would be nuts to pay over $100 for that thing in that condition. Hope they come to their senses and consider your offer!

I sure hope someone doesn't buy it at that price without noticing all the damage and issues. Many would never see the missing parts.

$112? For that? I am with gabulldog they need to come down to at least $40. Something was obviously dropped on it. Plus the chipped porcelain will cause problems down the road.

    Hold firm at $39.00 FD!

I think it arrived with porcelain damage (early Weber issues) because I saw one there assembled a few weeks ago with porcelain damage near the same area). Poor assembly job, then something hit it.

Let me just say I completely understand how somebody could buy such a kettle with high hopes, unpack it and feel like doing it further damage after seeing the missing porcelain and parts.

That might be the one that I returned. 😂

Always start high and let the buyer bring you down because the buyer ain't never going to bring you up.

      I'm already rethinking $39.

Make sure if they counter that you go even lower on your offer price!

Weber should not even allow that grill to be displayed.

I wouldn’t buy it. Red or not, I’ve got two CL saves in better shape for under $50.

Mr. Bones I’m spreading the love around all of 'em. Nothing is retired, just used less frequently.

fuzzydaddy, I don't think I would be able to resist that either! But now you have two redheads. I fear some jealousy is going to develop here!!

I saw one of the red kettles at a Home Depot in Birmingham while traveling in December, and the one on display there looked great - no flaws in the finish.
