    Weber Red Kettle

If ya’ll are interested in the Red Kettle & the glitches it encumbered, take a look at Baby Back Maniac video on You Tube. He was contacted by the Head Honcho of Weber. A pretty good explanation. Some of which I had surmised was due to the color. You be the judge.

Very interesting. It looks like Weber dropped the ball, but the boss picked it up and is holding on tight.

My Weber kettle is about 25 - 30 years old and still going strong (rebuilt several times) but I really think it has far better build quality than the new ones I see today. Seems it is of a heavier gauge steel. My kettle has withstood hail storms here while my neighbors newer kettle has dents from the same storms. The video from Baby Back Maniac helped me in my decision to just keep my old kettle.

Where’s the link to the video? Oh never mind, I’m to lazy to go find it, plus I’m still looking for my stabler as well 🤪

If he really wants to solve the problem he should bring the manufacturing back to the USA.

I had to. I could help it. I tried to resist. I failed!

I love my Weber family of cookers. It really pains me to see the reduction in quality since they’ve started moving some products overseas. I think they are still better than most but I hate that they felt they had to start sacrificing quality in the name of profit.

Me thinks there has to be some sort of verification on & of the quality of Weber Kettles. Innuendos & guesses could be very damaging to a company if they are just based on feelings. I’m not defending or accusing, just wondering about being accurate. Just two observances, 1. when I saw the under body of the red kettle & the black, small section was shown I immediately thought that wouldn’t be noticed if the kettle was black. 2. It has been mentioned that the gauge of steel is not the same as the old ones & someone had one dented in a rain storm. A question to verify is, is the gauge different or not. I bought mine in 2011 & the thing has held up like a trooper in all sorts of weather & most of the time with no cover.
I might be totally off base, but I hope that we are careful in further assessing of company & its products.

I agree. I am really just going off what everyone has said recently. I am happy with the quality of my kettle from 2012 and WSM from 2013.

I’m sure the 2011 wasn’t made in China. The red kettle that I bought and since returned it had bare spots on the lid and the paint also had bubble spots in it. I have four Weber kettles and the workmanship on those are flawless.

My Home Depot's price for the Red, online as of yesterday, was $149, so I ordered it and picked it up at the store this morning. They opened the box in-store for me for inspection and all looks great! Here she is.

I was in Birmingham over the weekend and saw the red Weber on display at a Home Depot down there. It was very pretty! I don't need another kettle unfortunately...

fuzzydaddy you are the 3rd or 4th person that have found them at Home Depot for that price. Everytime I check my local Home Depot they are $199. Congrats! Cheers and have a Merry Christmas!
