Two turkeys on a 22" Weber Kettle?

We are having Thanksgiving dinner with 14 guests this year and by my calculations will need about a 21 lb turkey. Would it be possible to smoke 2 10 lb birds on a 22" Weber Kettle instead of one 21 lb bird? I'll be using a Slow n Sear Plus.

If you get creative with foil to kind of shield against the heat and don't spatchcock... maybe. This is one of those situations where I wish there was an easy way to raise the lid and create more space vertically. There used to be something called BBQ Stacker that turns your kettle into something resembling a WSM, but that is apparently a thing of the past.

Edit: Wait! I found the website for Barbecue Stacker: http://www.barbecuestacker.com/bbqstackershop.html. It's just not on Amazon anymore.

Thanks Steve, isn't that a nifty gadget...and expensive. This hobby can add up quickly...an my wift thought I spent a lot on golf clubs!

I think you could do it. Definitely can't spatchcock. Tricky part of it is that you need the lid to be taller at the edge of the grill. Google 'Weber extension ring', there are a few options that get the lid higher.

Actually, that's what Steve R. Is suggesting, I guess. They want a lot of money for metal. I would like to know if there's someone charging less than the grill costs!

If you had another grate you can do two spatchcock turkeys one above the other. Just keep in mind that the top bird will get done a little quicker than the bottom bird due to the higher temps.

Another option is a SmokeEZ. I've got one on my 26" Weber and it works great! However, they are pricey, but much cheaper than buying a WSM 22".

This might be an opportunity to get a 2nd Kettle and Slow 'N Sear.

How about this guys. If you forget collecting gravy, could you spatchcock both 10 pound turkeys, and do one on the charcoal grate next to the Slow N Sear, and one on the top grate? Obviously you would scrub that grate good - or heck, go to Home Depot and buy a new charcoal grate for $10 and wash it good - and the bottom one will get done last, and have some drippings on it, but I doubt anyone is gonna care. Just make the top turkey your "presentation" bird.

Yup. I cook a lot on the bottom. Often need to move it up but it beats firing up the 22 in addition to the 26,

I'm with the fuzzy daddy. Just tell SWMBO you need a 26 with a SnS to avoid this in the future. End of story. Specify the amount of people somif in the future there's more you'll need another cooker. I'm needing a ranch myself.

Thanks everyone for some great ideas! I wound up getting a 21 lb bird and spatchcocking. Turn out awesome, or so everyone said.
