I'm just purchasing a weber 26 and I was wondering if they make a hover grill to fill the 26. When I do chicken I like to do it over the coals for flavor but with some distance between the meat and coals to keep from burning. Does anyone know of a hover grill or grill extender that fills up the 26?

Hover Grill for Weber 26

You could purchase a grate for the 22 and invert it. I just don't know if the handles are tall enough to give the kind of clearance you are looking for. I have a Hover Grill for the 22 and I got it when I acquired the Smokenator 4 years ago (sold the Smokenator at a garage sale this spring). The Smokenator people make a Smokenator for the 26 so perhaps they also have a bigger hover grill for the 26. That's where I would start.

Cookers:
Broil King XL
Broil King Smoke
Weber Kettle 26
Grilla Pellet smoker
Capital 40 natural gas
Napoleon Pro 22 kettle
Thermometer:
Maverick 733
Thermapen (ok..4 thermapens)
Thermo works DOT (or two)
Fireboard (probably my favourite)
Thermworks Smoke (or two)
Accessories:
SnS (original, plus and XL)
DnG pans, 6 or 7 of these
Vortex
Grillgrates
and, maybe some other toys as well
I have not seen a specific one made for the 26. The regular will fit of course, but won't give you as much cooking area.

How often do you think you'll need it? Before I was afflicted with MCS for years my charcoal cookers were limited to a Smokey Joe and the 22 Performer. I only used the hover grill maybe 3 times in 4 years and on 2 of those occasions I wouldn't even needed it if I had the 26 at the time.
The 26 is really big. Even if you acquired the Smokenator hover grill designed for the 22 you are getting a lot more grate space.Last edited by JeffJ; October 3, 2017, 02:03 PM.

Petewinter if you're in the mood to spend another $250 or so, the Smoke E-Z for the 26 is a chicken machine. I bought some hooks from PBC and hang my chickens now. The one thing I have had to learn is spatchcocked chickens will take about 45 minutes instead of an hour and a half that I was accustomed to.
