Question about the Weber 26 Lid Thermometer

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_1750.JPG Views:	1 Size:	1.82 MB ID:	382623 Just curious, on the Weber 26, the lid thermometer is opposite the vent right above the charcoal. On the 22, the thermometer is 45 degrees to the vent. Not that I use it for accuracy but it is handy as a benchmark.

Does anyone know why the 26 is configured one way and the 22 another? I am tempted to call Weber right now but I already had a glass of wine.

I'm on my 3rd Vodka. Do you want me to call them?

My 22 is the same as above, as the 26.

Interesting...I wonder if there is randomness involved? Third glass of wine. Just saying.

The thermometer for my Performer is at base of the lid handle.

You can see both thermometers in this pic:

I keep the Jumbo Joe and the WSM in the garage most of the time, along with the Weber Spirit 3-burner and the Bradley electric. Skip troymeister

The thermometer on my 22 Performer is the same as your 26, troymeister. It's funny that you posted this today because last night I was using mine as a benchmark for cooking chicken and wondered if having it directly over the fire was going to throw it off. Don't worry everyone, I had my Thermopen, I was just too lazy to get out the Smoke and measure at the grate for chicken breasts.

I think that all of the new weber grills are configured the way your picture above is. I like the old way myself. Is your 22 inch an older model?

Butchman Yes, my performer is from 2010. I use the one on my performer all the time as a benchmark. I just note the difference between the probe thermometer temp. But with the thermometer directly above the coals renders it even more useless than it already is..lol
