I'm about 8 hours in to my 3rd cook with the SNSPlus. This one's a 5 lb pork butt. Looks fine so far--I'm currently stalled at 183, with the pit at 271. All 3 of my cooks I've used good old plain vanilla Kingsford briquettes. Seems to me that they don't last all that long in the SNS (about 4 hours or so), and that the SNS gets pretty clogged with ashes. I've gone out and stirred things up and added about 6 or 8 briquettes twice now, to keep the pit temps between 225 and 250. Anyone think that I might have better results with a different fuel? I have a bag of Weber briquettes in the garage, and I think I will try them next time.
Can't wait for the pulled pork!
Good luck and be safe to all our members in Florida and in Irma's path.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

You should get 8-10 at 225 with original, with a full basket in warm weather. Make sure you leave an air space between the SnS and kettle wall. Yeah the plus clogs up easier. Stir the coals at about the 4-5hr mark then every hr or two after that.

Right at this moment I'm 5 hours in at 225-240 using kbb and still have at least 2/3rds left in my SnS. I do have a 26" though but that's still pretty darn good IMO.
Oh and yea I'm pretty late starting a picnic roast...ha
I have the original SnS and have consistently gotten 6-9 hours (depending on weather) of Kingsford Original without having to knock off any ash in both the 22 and the 26. .
Thanks, guys! I am getting better with each cook. This required a few more coals, but it came out great--hit 203 at the 9.5 hour mark. The good guys won in the end!
