Looking for info (previous post or just comments) on best setup for ribs on the 22 kettle with a SNS. Wanting to see how many racks are doable comfortably on it.
Use a rib rack? If so, how many of BabyBacks vs Spare?
In the site article about the SNS, it mentions using the lower grate and upper grate with a SNS. Anyone do this? What's difference in temps of grates?Pics?
Appreciate any information that can be offered. Thanks!

With a rib rack I can fit four baby back racks on a 22" but it is tight. You will need to plan on longer cook time. Just upgraded to a 26". The extra real estate makes ribs easier. I have never used the lower grate. A hovergrill is also an option.
I've got a Weber rib rack, so Reds Fan 5 called it, also have a hover grill, pretty much the some difference. If you really want to load up, PBC! Simply marvelous!
If you use a hover grill know that temps at the hover grill level are going to be noticeably higher than temps at the grate level. If you use the charcoal grate know that it's going to be considerably cooler.
I've done 3 (big) baby backs in a rack, one level. Shuffled every 45 minutes to an hour, fairly even cook, came out yummy. I wouldn't try 4 with the same setup, but no need as they come in a 3 pack at Costco.
These were done in just over 4 hours ...
... but you can see the middles didn't get quite as much action as the ends.
Sometime soon I want to try the "skewered rollup" method.
I was able to easily fit five racks of baby backs on my Weber w/ the SnS using a rib rack. I cooked for about two hours at 275F - 300F (I like to cook ribs a little hot), then wrapped for another two hours w/ apple juice and brown sugar. Then remove from tinfoil and sauced for 15 - 20 mins.
Bruce54 Yes, I did rotate the two "end racks", if that makes any sense. The rack closest to the SnS cooked a little quicker, and the rack furthest away was looking undercooked, so I swapped them after the first hour.

Hmmm....I hadn't thought of that. By "noticeably", how much higher do you think the temps are? A few degrees? I have one, leftover from the Smokenator days. I've cooked ribs and chicken quarters in tandem with the Hovergrill, with the chicken on the grate, and the ribs on the Hovergrill. I want to cook 4 racks, and I loathe rib racks. I don't know why, but I do.
Probably at least 20 degrees hotter. I remember the last time I did ribs on the kettle and I really had to get creative to fit 3 slabs. The end of one of the slabs was up on top of the grate handle. After a couple of hours it was noticeably (that word again) more cooked.
Thanks everyone for the responses. Helped with the questions I had regarding the Kettle setup. Went ahead and ordered the SnS today even before I've picked up a Kettle (going to get it in a few minutes). Can blame it on MCS or my wife letting me order my own Father's Day gift - makes it tougher for her to complain about the new addition to the back porch.
fuzzydaddy - I got a crimson one. There was exactly one in stock at a local store, and I couldn't pass it up unless it would have been for a blue. Only saw blue in the performer, and I didn't need the table.
