I just installed a gasket on my Weber kettle grill and I have a question for any of you that may know the answer to it. The instructions say to make sure you don't get the red RTV adhesive on the face of the gasket. Well, I accidentally did that. What is the possible consequence of that?

Your kettle can melt into a molten ball of lava. Haaaaaa. Seriously though I don't think it will harm anything as long as it's only a little. But don't put the lid on it until the rtv completely cures. 24hrs or so. You should be good to go. -

It's kind of like the tag under the cushions on your sofa the says... under penalty of law, do NOT remove this tag! The first thing you do is PULL that tag!

You got me. I've always been somewhat of a rebel, living on the edge. I ripped off many a mattress tag back in the day. Even though I've mellowed out a bit in my old age, I still get an occasional wild streak like this. I just couldn't help getting that adhesive where it didn't belong. LOLComment

I just wanted to get a better seal to make temperature control easier and to keep the smoke going through the top vent instead of coming out where the lid sits on the bottom of the kettle.Comment
