I never realized anything other than under the lid was necessary. Is it really? Where's the official study on temperature control and charcoal efficiency of the under the lid method vs. using the vents vs. drilling holes? Is our mythbuster squad on this yet?
It's not a point of temp control. I pinched one of my leads on one of my other smokers, so just want to avoid doing it on the Weber. Better safe than sorry.
Yep. I also wanted my lid to be able to sit completely flat on the base. My lid now sticks to the bottom so I know I have a pretty good seal. Don't need a wire messing with that.
