I got a Lava Lock gasket (courtesy of RonB last time I was in the States, thanks!) and need to apply it to my Weber 22". But the inside of the lid has burned-on gunk. If I stick the gasket to the gunk instead of the metal, it will fall off. I tried shooting it with heavy duty degreaser and it didn't work very well. Also I'm almost out of degreaser. What else can I try to get this gunk off? I read the grill cleaning guide and it doesn't really say anything.

How do I get the burned-on gunk off the lip of the top lid to apply a gasket?

Before installing my high heat gasket I had to remove the old one -what was left of it- that had been fried to a crisp onto the ceramics of the top and bottom of my Primo. I used a dremel w a carbide burr to remove all the junk. Then I wiped it down w acetone before applying the adhesive.

Fortunately, a Taobao seller has some. Just ordered. Made in Parsippany, New Jersey. Thanks! My first cook of the season is Sunday and it's time to knock it out of the park!
