    Weber Smoky Mountain 18.5 or 26" kettle/SnS?

I have the opportunity to get either one for next to nothing. I don't smoke as much as I grill, and I sometimes need more room than a 22" kettle gives me. I am leaning toward the 26" kettle, given those conditions. What say the members of the Pit?

I'd say the kettle for the versatility.

Grilling more than smoking? Definitely get the 26" kettle. You can always smoke on it but the the extra surface area you would have for grilling, you can't go wrong.

Thunder77 If I could only get one, or the other, I'd get th' 26"...
Ya can always smoke on it, an' have lotsa room, for grill, or smoke...
If it were actually me, at "next to nothing", well, I'd get both, then, yessir.
            Both 're great cookers...

Mr Bones, I can only get one or the other for next to nothing. I wish I could get both! But honestly, I don't think I would use the WSM as much.

Amen to the Kettle/SnS combo. Larger surface and more versatile than the WSM.

26" kettle with SnS. You'll love the extra real estate and it is a rib machine.

I had a similar debate a year ago: 26 or the 22 WSM. (I already have a 22 Performer kettle). Ultimately I decided on the 26 and have on occasions needed the extra grate space just for a dinner for 4. As for smoking in it....with the SnS it performs very well. It has plenty of capacity.

I recommend the kettle, given your choices.

Weber 26 and SnS it is! I was going that way anyway, but solid verification is always good! Meanwhile, anyone interested in a 22" Performer in black? It's the basic model, but in good condition.

Keep it man. You can do your sides on the 22 while you're doing the proteins on the 26.

What Craigar said. As long as you have space, keep the 22.

It's when you butcher a female hog and sear it up.
