I need to tighten the seal on two older Weber Kettles to prevent smoke from leaking. Amazon offers a Weber Gasket Kit, a couple of Lavalock gaskets, and there are silicone sealants in a tube. From your experience, what will do the best job? Thanks for your help and guidance!

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
Our gasket kits install easily to create an airtight seal which results in better heat retention than your grill has from the factory. LavaLock, FireBlack, Total Control BBQ, Gasket, seal, adhesive, leak stop, food safe bbq gasket. smoker gasket kit, smoker door seal, nomex, aramid, strip gasket, PAN material, felt gasket, Big Green Egg gasket, kamado seal

I used the self adhesive Lavalock and it did the job. It did shrink a bit and made a gap of about 1/8" though. I don't know if I accidentally stretched it as I was applying it and it pulled back, or if it just shrank. It did come loose for 2 or 3 inches fairly quickly too. I thought I was very careful cleaning the lid surface, so I'm not sure why it came loose. Others have had better success.
