    Bro N'Sear

I am going to restore a performer that I bought on Marketplace. Will post pics when I get started.

I know everyone is a huge fan of Slow N' Sear and I am right there with you.

But I thought this was pretty neat and wanted to share. Certainly a budget friendly alternative

I use 2 firebricks inside my kettles, 3 if in my 26, you get to build the zone size you want. Save yourself some money to spend on a FireBoard and fan.

Steve R. I’ve never bought one, I know I’m one of the few, but I have zero problems depending on 22 or 26 running 6 -9 hour cooks without refueling or poor fire management.

Steve R. A ranch kettle! Those are so cool!!! We need to see that more often!

barelfly, notice that I wrote that in the past tense. I found a fantastic deal on a floor model, used it for about two years, then sold it for a little less than I had in it.

That will work, but it looks like it takes up more real estate that the SnS. That would reduce the amount of food you could cook. Since you will have to drill holes anyway, I suggest more overlap of the two curved pieces and the straight pieces so that when finished, it will take up less room. If you'd like, I can take a measurement of the widest point on the SnS later today. That way you could make it the same size.

Hahaha, I love it. The funny thing is, my SNS sits on the lower rack of cart on my performer and I just make a snake of charcoal and add a couple of fire bricks. Just bank the coals and let it rip!

Looking forward to seeing your restoration. The Performer is such an awesome set up.

Agreed. I've had a Performer for 12 years. Cooked a lot of stuff on it and with the SnS was my first foray into smoking meats. The shelf has flaked a lot and is getting really rusty. I need to either sand down the whole thing and repaint it or just buy that cart someone posted about a few days ago!

My Hasty Bake is able to sear, with a crank of a handle.

I love that about the HB, but I already splurged on the PK360, which I love. Heck, I was jealous of my brothers $120.00 Walmart grill with an adjustable coal bed. 😂

That's a cool idea. I just happen to have a couple of Weber charcoal baskets that I bought before I got the SnS basket, will have to see if they will work just for the fun of it.

Those Performers are a great find on either Facebook or Craigslist. What color did you get?

I've had 6. First one was a gift from Mrs. H years ago the rest were "found". I have kept 3. The rest I passed on to someone else after a little reconditioning.

It’s a black kettle. Overall in great shape. Really needs bath!

Interesting…. But what about the water trough? I use those two pieces as a faux vortex.

Just place a pan on the grate below the cooking grate. You can actually buy 2 more and still pay less money overall.
