Guess you can take a 14'' Weber Smokey Joe just about anywhere

Caught something wild during the SF Giants vs. LA Dodgers pre-game show yesterday. Out in McCovey Cove, kayakers were jockeying for the perfect spot to snag one of those legendary “Splash Hits” that launch straight into the bay. But here’s the kicker—I spot a dude floating in his kayak with a 14" Weber Smokey Joe fired up right on the bow!

Snapped a quick pic because… how could I not? Kayak + BBQ = absolute legend status. I’d totally buy that guy a couple of beers just for the creativity. Makes me wonder though—has he ever had a “whoops” moment out there grilling on the water? Pretty epic sight either way. Sorry, not my best photo.

A ball into that inferno would make for some good action.

Yeah - looks like he’s has taken some precautions, but he forgot the ejection seat. If anything goes wrong, it would be a critical failure.

If there was so much as a creek around Miller Park I guarantee this would be a thing. this is awesome, my hat is off and I would TOTALLY be a part of that group🤘🏼.

My BBQ risk tolerance is not high enough to strap hot coals to a floating device, then straddle said device while waiting for a frantic jostling of boats and swimmers around me who are going after a ball. 😬

Yeah, and also just maneuvering yourself around to turn the meat could cause issues too…..no thanks.

My thought too....water.....has waves.....crests and troughs....things go up and down, and slightly sideways, often unpredictably.....

I’ll have to keep checking the Darwin Awards. This is a good candidate.🤣
Updated: Sadly they stopped publishing new awards in 2022. ☹️

Hmmm. So is it someone else's job to paddle around front and turn the meat? There's no way the guy sitting on the kayak is reaching it.

Looks like he's just the poor sap who drew the short straw. He can't reach the cooker. Someone else has to light and tend the coals. And somebody has to cook the meat. This guy is just the floating fire risk.

Maybe he is just using it like a fire pit for warmth and ambiance. 😉
