Weber Performer Lid Holder 2015 redesign (retrofit?)

I have a 22" Performer about 3 years old. My biggest complaint is with the lid holder not opening wide enough. Anytime I grill more than 2 burgers I find myself totally removing the lid and putting it on the ground.

I was looking at a new 22" performer in Home Depot and the lid holder seemed to open much more. I should have taken a pic as I can't seem to find any good ones showing the angle. Below is my 3 year old performer. Turns out Weber did increase clearance by 2" (according to http://weberkettleclub.com/grills/we...former-history) Then I had the thought maybe I can retrofit this to mine? I might give Weber a call and see if they will sell me the parts.

Here ya go. I added the lid bail to my regular kettle, and a week later I saw that thread. Was mad I didn't have the new design, but oh well. Maybe eventually I'll replace it.

I do like the new design for it a bunch.

Oh. Also. At least last year Weber wouldn't sell it to you unless you told them you had purchased the 2015 performer deluxe. I'm not sure if that's the case. There was a thread I read that had the part number but I couldn't find it in the couple minutes I had to google it.
