I'm with you. Kettles are quite possibly the single most versatile, affordable, and timeless cookers in existence.

      Without a doubt!

I sold my first Performer a few years ago and regretted it almost immediately. I won't make that mistake again.

The odds are in your favor; you no longer have it!

So much easier and quicker than getting the offset fired up, rarely use that now since picking up my kettle a couple of years ago

One of my best purchases. It's really become my "field cannon"...I use it for so many things...

If I could only keep ONE grill, it would most definitely be my Performer Deluxe, as it is probably my most flexible cooker.

I don't use it as often since winning the SNS Kamado back in January 2021, but it still gets used more than the offset. Since getting the Performer in 2017, I've used the offset about 1/100th as much as I used it before the Performer (and SNS) came to live in the backyard.

I have two Kettles and with the Vortex is a chicken roasting machine. But my favorite, and if I had to pick just one, it would be the PK360. More expensive, but it will definitely out last a Kettle over time.

Love my PK 360, however, learning to love my new Primo XL a lot too. For the two of us, however, prefer the PK or Primo over the Weber especially as it gets colder and more windy with the North wind.

My Performer Deluxe was made in 2007 - the exact year can be determined from the code on the top vent. Weber kettle club website has an age guide based on the codes.

The piezo igniter is about the only thing I’ve replaced on mine.

Don’t leave those wet ashes in the bowl as it will corrode…

I have it cleaned up. Need to blow out igniter nozzle, and see what happens.

Just replaced the piezo electric igniter with the newer battery powered one. Had to change a fitting, but now works great. Time to start a fire.

I have an 18” Weber Kettle which is the perfect size for my wife and me. I don’t use it as often as my BGE simply because I don’t grill often, but cook mostly at 275 for low and slow and 375 for smoke roasting on my BGE. However, I don’t think you can beat the wings done on the kettle with the Vortex. I sometimes do boneless, skinless chicken thighs with the Vortex, but I can fit more on the BGE. I have the SowNSear but don’t use it very much. It would be a toss up for me between the kettle and the BGE, but if came down to budget the kettle would be the easy winner.

Mines in the shed, been awhile. It has a lot of space so I keep it for the day when I will use all my cookers at the same time for an epic cook. It hasn’t happened yet, but I hope someday to get a party large enough to eat it all.

                Now I use,
A gas grill for burgers, dogs, roasting whole corn, veggies, and the rotisserie. Quick and no fuss.
A PK for both grilling and smoking small items.
A stick burner for smoking big cuts.

                😎

My brother from another mother. That’s basically my grilling/smoking order as well.

I'll be using mine to cook our 13.6 lb. turkey on Thanksgiving Day. I do pretty good on chickens and this will be my first turkey on my rescued Performer.

I read the title of this post and immediately misinterpreted that you were at some establishment where you were tucking dollar bills. Not the case at all as it turns out...resume BBQ discussion...
