Weber kettle One Touch Cleaning System replacement?

On Weber's site, the replacement kit with new 'blades' for the One-Touch Cleaning System is about $35 including shipping and tax.

On Amazon through the Weber store, it's $25, and I'll get it tomorrow.

Another particular one, a generic one, says it is heavier duty, thicker, and it's half that price. Anyone here used one of these 'other' replacements? This is a thin, light-gauge, part that is obviously not meant to last 30 years, so I'm sure many of you have replaced these several times.

Is it worth getting the Weber branded part, or just get a generic replacement, knowing regardless, you're going to replace this every few years?

Or is there an 'upgraded' version out there that actually works better, is more durable and is WORTH the price of upgrading?

I've never had a Weber anything until last year, and I really dig my kettle now, I think I'm gonna keep it - I wouldn't mind upgrading some parts. I've been wanting to get a 26", but they're fewer and farther between, and they are going up in price on the used market.

Amazon.com: 22-1/2-Inch One-Touch Cleaning System Kit for Weber Kettle Grills, Suitable Replacement Weber Grill Parts, Silver : Patio, Lawn & Garden

This is the one I just replaced with in my Weber Master Touch Kettle. 3 cooks so far, it works great. Was a little pain to install. A third helping hand would have made it easier. I don't recall comparing it to the original sweep or if it felt flimsy. YMMV

Watching closely. Mine was “frozen” at first startup this year. I managed to free it up with a little time and cleaning and lubricant, but I can tell there won’t be more than another season or so from it. I’m at 8 years of fairly heavy use, just starting the 9th season.

I'm using a Weber Performed Deluxe, 2007 date code, and as far as I know, it is still on the original blades. I've not replaced them, and I've had the grill since early 2017. It sees less use the past couple of years, since the arrival of the SNS kamado, but still gets used pretty frequently.

I would be hesitant go get a "heavier/thicker" version, as you want these blades to conform to the surface of the kettle, and if the metal is too thick, it may not? Just speculating. The biggest issue I see with them is sticking if the kettle is gunked up, and cold, but a good deep clean with a razor blade scraper, or getting the kettle hot, will get it moving again. Look at the restoration guide over at The Weber Kettle Club if you don't know what I'm talking about with the razor blade scraper...
