I've just got a replacement gasket for my Green Egg and it made me wonder about adding a gasket to my Weber kettle. The Weber is not very air tight and leaks when I use the Smokenator insert, making it a less efficient smoker that requires constant attention and fiddling with the air vents. I'd love to add a gasket to get a decent air seal. Has anybody done that? What gasket did you use? Top and bottom or top only? Any thoughts appreciated.

Weber Genesis E-330 (AKA Big Paperweight)
22" Weber Kettle Premium
26" Weber Kettle One Touch
Slow 'N Sear
Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5" (pre-2008)
Anova Sous Vide
(2) Maverick ET-733s
Thermapen MK4
I use 1.25" wide or medium sized binder clips. I find that 4 or 5 will keep it from leaking. "Borrow" some from your place of business by removing from documents that are ready to be thrown out or spend a few bucks at Amazon, Staples, or Office Max. I think they typically come in boxes of 24 for about $4. It's a little annoying to clip and unclip each time, but I've dealt with worse in my life...

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

We have two weber kettle grills (one LARGE and one small/average), the SnS and the Weber Smokey Mountain 18" smoker. We use both natural lump charcoal and KNB for smoking and measure our temps with a Maverick 733, thermopen and MK4. Favorite beer depends on what is cooking (alt answer is yes).
Binder clips have worked for me, so far. Wind knocked my 26" kettle fell off my patio, so I may have to add a gasket to compensate for an "out of round" issue. Otherwise, the binder clips should work.

DWCowles , @ceramicched , in a word, NO! Thinking that is not in my immediate future.
UNLESS, this REALLY turns out to be really boffo, as represented by YEARS of reviews. We have a small weber, the 26" weber, a WSM and SNS. Worst case, another 26"
BTW, did I ever mention that I am generally considered to be the second cheapest sob in the Commonwealth of Vieginia?
I prefer to refer to it as penurious.
