    Weber 26” Mod

Added a second handle to the lid of my 26” Weber today. It’s pretty heavy to keep lifting in and out of the lid bale. This makes it almost like lifting a gasser lid. I’ve seen a few members with this mod but I believe it was Attjack who was the first I saw to do this. Thanks for the tip Attjack!

That is a great idea. I should get myself another handle for this exact purpose.

      Shop around. Prices will vary.

Ive done the same. I will caution folks that they need to pay attention to which side the the lid they place the handle. With the new handle directly under the vent then when opening the lid you are putting the temp gauge in contact with the lid bail support and this stops the lid from opening all the way without a bit of play.
I found that I cook most meals on the right side of the kettle with coals on the left when facing the grill so i placed the handle on the left side of the vent so when in place during a cook the handle lifts the lid straight back with one hand.

Hmmm. I put the SnS / charcoal on the backside by the lid bale. So, I placed the handle on the vent side. I did give it a quick try and didn't notice any hangup. Will give it a look over tomorrow when back at work. CHNeal

It’s cool that yours works out like that. I just went out and tried mine again and yep the temp gauge tries to hang up on the bail. It’s not bad and a jiggle moves it past but enough to bother me so I started cooking on the side on the 26.

I looked at mine today and as there is a bit of slop in the bale, my thermometer slides past the bale support without making contact.
It is something anyone thinking of doing this needs to know. Thanks for sharing. CHNeal

I put my SNS on the left and the vent is on the right like yours is. That works well for me.

I think you’re at the point of making a Kettle into a PBC 😉
