    First Weber kettle

In 2018 we moved into town and my wife thought I may enjoy a grill, she offered to buy it, so I asked for a basic Weber kettle. It was on this day. I kind of feel like I should always keep this kettle, that was assembly day and first cook. joined here in 2019, and ended up getting a few more things since. 😜

A “few” more things? Pretty soon you’ll be joining me, next to my van down by the river. 1 spot left!

My first kettle (or did I have a smokey Joe already)? It now lives at the cabin in California with an antique avocado green 18" I inherited from my mother and a black Smokey Joe.

Weber, weber, Primo, EVO, Blaze, Blackstone Pizza Oven, and Son of Hibachi. The Webers are cheap, versatile, and fun to collect!

I ha forgotten that I had just previously bought a Smokey joe, when we sold our house I bought it to cook on for 7 days so I did not have to clean the oven again. Lol

I had my first Kamado in 1972 which was about the time the BGE ceramic was coming out. Mine was an original crockery and the fire box gave out 33 years later. I turned the bottom into a great flowerpot for a beautiful hydrangea, but I had to leave it behind when we moved to Dallas. There isn’t anything to remember it by, but I constantly remember it when I cook on my BGE. That Weber is portable, so if you move again take that memory with you.

Got my first kettle same year as you. Is that the original pic of the new kettle or as it looks today. If current then it's been well cared for.

That one is special! I would keep it as long as you can. My first Weber kettle suffered death by tree branch.

Ugh. My wsm got knocked over in wind twice this year. Each time I was so nervous, that it would have been damaged. Thankfully, just a small bit of out of round, not enough to bother with.

That's awesome Richard, and yes - you definitely must hang onto that first kettle!

The first kettle I actually owned was a 1997 model that my mother in law was going to throw out to the curb when tearing down an old garden shed around 2015. Not sure I ever saw it used, and I didn't know they had it, and I've been married into the family since 1990! I gave it to a friend a couple of years after getting my 2007 Performer in 2017.

And look at you now! Clearly it was a gateway grill.

So 4 years ago on this day you got your first kettle. And 6 years ago this day the Cubs won the World Series.

November 2nd is indeed a great day.
