I have been wanting to get back to charcoal grilling vs propane. Found this on FB marketplace for $50. Looked in decent shape. After about 4 hours of scraping, rust removing, easy off and degreaser, it looks brand new. I finished both the inside and outside with 0000 steel wool. The handles came clean as well.
I thought the one touch arms were a goner but the cleaned up real well.
Bought a new grate and the charcoal baskets. Everything else came with: the tools, the side table, the charcoal lighter.
And, I also found my next restoration project: A $30 Weber Performer!
I should add this: The first cook was a 2" top sirloin. Dry brined overnight. My partner, who rarely provides glowing compliments on my grilling stated, unsolicited: "this was the best steak you have ever cooked. Restaurant quality"
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
