I always keep an eye out for grills, but most of the time, things that are "free" are junky or a long drive from me. Well, the other day on my neighborhood forum, someone posted there was a Weber kettle outside for free pickup. And it was a minute drive from me!!
Here is what I scored: 22†Weber kettle premium, 2 bags of charcoal, a charcoal kaddy (bin), starter cubes, foil pans, hickory chunks, a charcoal chimney (not pictured), and a cover!
The kettle is in very good condition! It looks gooooood on my back deck!

My son-in-law scored a free Vermont Castings gasser that someone had put out at the end of their driveway. The owner had put in an outdoor kitchen with built-ins and he felt it wasn't worth his time to sell it. It was obviously really well cared for, or hardly ever used as it looked brand new and it was one of the ones that was made in the US before they moved production to China.

I hit up garage sales and estate sales, when I am not too lazy and sleep late. And I always watch the curbs. People who are moving often do not want to take a dirty grill with them. I would not. If I sold my house, the Primo and table I made would probably stay, because moving it would be a major PITA. More than likely the Primo would just end up broken. I could buy a new one with the new grill with the new house. Maybe not the same one, but something. Renters also tend to leave things behind. Same reason. You do not want to put a grill in your car and lug it off. Or you are moving to an apartment where you cant have one anyway. As for estate sales, if the estate executor lives out of the area, they are likely to not want to deal with a grill. Just get rid of it. If it does not sell, curbside it. Done.
The weirdest thing I scored from the curb was a cocktail table cabinet Mrs. Pac-Man arcade game. Yup. The entire thing. Cabinet needed work, but the game worked. Kept it for a while then gave it away to someone who restores such things.
