    I got a new kettle!

MCS strikes again! Even though I already have two kettles, I have been eyeing a performer for a while due to the side table. Got this beauty for my birthday. I added a Lava Lock gasket, drilled a probe port and a 1 inch "smoke hole". I was a little nervous about drilling into my brand new grill, but this site and YouTube helped give me the confidence to get it done. Eventually I plan to get a fan controller. First cook was some porterhouse steaks.

    That is so freaking sweet!!!

If they didn't want you to drill holes into that pit they wouldn't have put holes in the top.

Looks great! Enjoy! I love my Performer.

What grommet did you use for that probe port? I've yet to drill a hole for that, because most folks seem to use the WSM gasket, which requires a pretty huge hole.

I used a replacement grommet meant for my Traeger. You can get them from Amazon. I like these because they only require a 3/4 in hole.

After I got mine I added the SNS Deluxe, the stainless griddle and their spinning grate. Really helped me to have something to set up the coals for short cooks or a long low and slow cook.

That’s the one I have. Love it, takes less space but with the advantage of the side table. Enjoy that thing.

Congrats on the new grill, that’s definitely a good one! And what better way to break it in than with some good old Porterhouses….👍
