Help me trim the MCS herd

Hey folks my big kids are going to college and I want to put a pool and a trampoline in the backyard for my 7 year old. I asked him if he wanted to move in with my sister but he refused so I have to trim the herd. The only cookers that can't go are the Humphreys, Assassin, and the OG PBC. Other than that I want to get down to six cookers. I need the space and they could be getting put to better use so I want to share JC folks get first dibs and I'll give one away for free to a pit member in the name of Bones so help me out! What stays and what goes?

Keep the Hasty Bake, Performer and 36" Blackstone is what I would do, fwiw.

These 3 get my vote as well

You should keep one of the PBCs depending on the average size of your cooks.

I love the pbc's but counting the barrel house I got 4!

Keep 1 of each, hopefully the one that works the best for you or the space. My personal choices in there as well.

      1. Pit Barrel - I would go with the one that holds temps best.
      2. Cabinet - never used one, but the Humphrey’s drawer seems less prone to problems than the gravity-fed.
      3. Charcoal - love the PK, but I would go with the Hasty Bake
      5. Griddle - whichever fits best, do you cook big meals on the griddle?
      6. Fast Eddie’s pellet, even though I am not a pellet fan, that looks like a fine machine.

This looks like a good plan but you skipped 4 so I'll squeeze the Assassin in there 😁

Have you considered therapy for your MCS! LOL! On a serious side can your college kids use any of those cookers?

      Haha.

Down to 9 from 23 and definitely won’t buy anymore eh?

The survivors Humphrey's pint, assassin gravity, Hasty Bake, Fast Eddys, 2 PBC's, 14 wsm, Blackstone 36, Broil King Keg. Are the survivors. I'm done, 9 is where we stay!

      Originally aiming for 7!

So I have a goal, I have to trim my family down to 7 cookers. It hurts but I have to many cookers and not enough space. The following are my cookers, I do big parties and family cooks, I almost never cook indoors. The only cooker that I have to keep is the Pit Barrel Cooker (Momma bought me that one). Some of the cast offs will

So this time, it is six from fifteen!

      🤣

I will need 10 business days to read through your cooker list and formulate any sort of idea.

Maybe just make a list of the six that you use the most, figuring that you tend to favor them for certain reasons. Best of luck making those hard decisions.

That's where I get stuck ...between possible uses and memories! My mom found me the OG PBC at an estate sale after my divorce when the wife junked all of my cookers, my daughter found the Akron jr on marketplace and was excited cause I said I needed a portable cooker for a camping trip, I love the hasty bake but my 7 year old loves cooking hot dogs in the PK, my upgrade wife bought me the Blackstone and the performer, I'm crazy and have functional and emotional glue 🤣🤣

After you sell a few then get a Pellet Grill. But that is my opinion.

Holy smokes, Batman!! That’s a lot o’ cookers. Yeah real estate in JC is way too precious for that many rigs.

Just my two cents, but I would lean towards the memory laden cookers. You can always get a pit that serves a function, but you can't replace cherished memories. Mothers, daughters, and wives (current upgrades, not previous models), will always trump functionality for me. If there are too many that have sentimental value, perhaps you could prioritize those, and once they are secure, functionality would outweigh other factors.

I say that wishing I still had the crappy off brand grill my mom bought me as a kid even though she couldn't even really afford it. I just remember all of the Mother's Days and birthdays I cooked on it for her. By the time I took it to the curb for her, it could barely stand, much less make a quality meal. My wife's father passed away two years ago, and I still have the big box store COS that he and I last assembled together. It may never get used again, but I can't seem to part with it.

That said, I do love the LSG my wife got for me last fall/winter, so I don't plan on parting with that, either.

Yeah I swore of my hobby when the ex wife junked all my cookers. Mom told me she got me a smoker cause mother's know. I looked at it and it was tiny, a barrel but nowhere near the size of a uds. So I looked closer and that it was really well made and had hooks...why hooks??? Then I googled smoker+horshoe handles and met Noah on YouTube and got back to my hobby. Mom's know that og PBC is going nowhere 😊

Holy Crap! Agreed on the Humphrey's and the Assassin, and I've got a PBC OG myself that I'll keep until it falls apart. Keep the Hasty Bake, one of the Blackstones and the PK original. The PK is very versatile and portable, making it one of my favorites.

        Very, very nice indeed!

I love the portability of the PBC!

        I’d go with the following:

Humphrey’s, OG PBC, and Assassin are required.

I’d do one of the Blackstone griddles depending on what sizes makes sense for your frequent cooks.

I’d keep the PK for your daughter at minimum and plus it is super portable.

The final one I’d pick whichever of the Fast Eddy, Akorn. Jr., or Hasty Bake gets used the most.

Keep 2, 6, and 12 in addition to the ones you mentioned. My reasoning is versatility. Hasty bake for volume. Weber and SnS, because weber and SnS, flattop for even more volume. Once you get a pool, I bet there is more backyard entertaining!
