Hey there, pit members! I have some fun news to share. I'm gonna get a gas grill. It will be the Bluegaz Z model. And there's a reason for that, read on. But first a lil' recap on why this is fun personally.
Way back in 2013 I got completely hooked (I took the red pill, or was it the blue pill? Whatever) on barbecue, which lead to me starting my bbq company, manufacturing grills, rubs, joining this awesome club, et.c. All that is history. But when I started out I took an engineering approach to it all. How can I learn EVERYTHING about barbecue? Well, one step at at time, I thought. So I bought the cheapest gas grill I could find, really. I paid 50 bucks for a gas grill with two burners. The whole point was so I could have indirect heat. And, I could focus 100% on everything barbecue EXCEPT fire and heat management. 3 years later I knew enough to get my first charcoal grill, and kettle grill, and then I focused 100% on pure fire management and smoke techniques. Yes, I am a nerd, and I'm not gonna apologize! Lol
Anywho, fast forward to 2026. I get questions all the time about which grill to buy, and very often which gas grill to buy. That's a bit of a challenge, as I haven't had one in 10+ years. But I did my research, and keep recommending the Bluegaz Z model, based on looks, specs and what I've found so far. I have a twin sister and she's been asking me for years which grill to buy. I tell her, and then she buys something else. Go figure... This has been quite frustrating, but this time around, I believe it's the 4th time, I told her: Buy a Bluegaz Z. Don't even look at anything else. And lo and behold, she did. And she also called up the wholesale agent (if that's a title even.. distributor?) in Sweden, and told him about me: "I have a brother that's slightly obsessed...". So he looks me up, and we get to talking.
The fun deal
They have various gas grills in their lineup, as well as a kamado (very much like all other brands). Nothing wrong with that, they look good, but they don't have an offset yet. But they want to build one. So, I am now their senior advisor and will help create them with R&D and development of a commercial offset smoker, for launch 2027. How cool is that? Granted, it won't be like my models, with 1/4" steel and all, it will be thinner metal, but I think it could be a great challenge helping design a more consumer friendly (in terms of price and weight) offset smoker that gets the job done.
And yes, of course they will send me a Bluegaz Z model to play with for free, plus any other model I would like. And this is the fun part. If you read this far, to me this means closing the circle in a way. I have several YouTube videos planned in my head where I can demonstrate how to cook authentic barbecue on a gas grill, with smoke flavor (by using chunks on top of the burner). Coming soon to a channel near you.
Here are some teaser photos of the gas grill. It is supposed to weigh in at 90 kilos, all (100%) stainless, with 8 mm bars in the grill grates. Pretty solid if you ask me. And the ceramic burners look cool, will be interesting try things out with this one.
I think it's a real looker, and love the clean aesthetics and design. It's being shipped as I type, so I will get it sometime next week.

What do y'all think? This could be fun, right?
