2005 Weber Genesis Gold

I really need new grates for my '05 Genesis Gold Grill...but do not want to break the bank since the hood is starting to rust on the interior lining. Weber does not list the parts anymore. What suggestions do you have? I am calling Weber Monday morning to see if they sell compatible SS or cast-iron grates.

TimmyR Hey I am still cooking on a Weber Genesis Silver A from 2002! You can still buy parts from Weber including burners, flavorizer bars and grates, or from a number of online sources. I refurbished mine 2 years ago, and got it back into almost new condition, still with the original cast iron grates. Last summer I bought Grillgrates - you can see them at www.grillgrate.com or a review in the side bar to the right on this page. They brought new life to an old gas grill for me, and right now there is a factory seconds sale that makes them cheaper. I bought the full replacement set made specifically for my older Genesis.

I am surprised to hear about rust on the inside of the lid. That porcelain enamel finish on the lids should last almost forever. I did touch up the cast aluminum body on my 2002 Genesis with a coat of black high heat spray paint, as it was looking more pale grey than black, but the lid continues to look great, and its seen a lot of use. I keep mine covered, but out in the elements other than that.

You do not say if you have the propane or NG version, or if its the Genesis Gold A/B/C model. I guess the Gold was a notch up from my "Silver" which predated it, and only came in a A (2 burner) and B (3 burner) model.

I always stick with the Weber parts when possible for burners, and have only replaced them once in 16 years of use. My dad made some replacement flavorizer bars for me from 304SS so I've not actually paid for those yet.

Mine is a LP all SS Genesis Gold...it has the interior hood liner of SS...that's where its starting to rust..

If the grill grates that are on sale are close to your size, I would highly recommend. They can sit right on top of your old grates if they are not the exact size.

I don't have a gasser, but have bought lots of kettle parts from them, and have always been happy.

You can go on amazon and find 3rd party providers of the parts you need. the prices are much lower. I used these parts to completely rebuild a 2002 silver B and they work well.
