    Grillgrates Factory 2nds Sale!

This is a really good deal - trying to talk a friend who just got a Performer into buying some of these, and we can cut the corners of the two outer panels at a 45 on a chop saw...

Question is what exactly is a 'factory second' ? Sometimes that's a good deal, sometimes not so good.

It’s the one after the first. 👍

Yea like the one the guy with the hangover dropped on the factory floor and bent it just enough so that it wobbles when you try to use it in your grill ?? That second one versus the first one?

They say it has minor cosmetic issues such as watermarking on the aluminum or minor scratches. The way I look at it, once its seasoned, you won't be able to tell the difference.

My dad just ordered some of these for his Weber Spirit 330, as he had been considering them but did not want to pony up $113 or whatever they normally cost.

I'm half interested in 2 or 3 panels 17.5 to 17.75" and got excited when I seen 17...but the ones they have are too short for me.

Thank you for sharing though, jfmorris!

jfmorris My dad has a metal chop saw coincidentally. I used to be a metal framer, so I have past experience. Time to singe my hand hairs again I guess.

Huskee sounds like you are set. You gotta keep those hairs singed, if the grill don't get them maybe the sparks flying off the metal will! I use my angle grinder to cut things like wrought iron, and it always freaks my wife to see me doing it with all the sparks flying.

Plus it sounds like its time to TRIM those hand hairs if they are getting that long...

Thanks for this info. I just ordered two of the 18.8" grates and the Grate Tool. I figure I can use these on my Weber 22" kettle and my old Weber gas grill. While looking on the GrillGrate web page I saw an idea of using them on a public park grill, so I'll take these with me to our family reunion this July at Kentucky Dam Village State Park Resort. Hmm... maybe I should check first to see if they have grills there!! Thanks again for the link.

Throwing these down on a public/community grill is an idea I like, as those are usually nasty. I would rather carry a clean grate surface with me. My son is getting married and the apartment complex he is looking at does not allow grills, but does have community gas grills, and these would be ideal for him to have.

jfmorris Thanks for posting this. Ordered a set yesterday at lunchtime. Got notification today that they have already shipped, with an expected delivery of Tuesday afternoon. I think maybe they will be inaugurated with a few pork steaks next weekend. Again, thanks.

Glad to hear people were able to take advantage of the sale pricing. I keep them on my Genesis gas grill permanently, and use them often on the kettle for direct grilling.

Thanks - I just ordered some panels and a Grate tool. Going to cut them down to fit my Napoleon TravelQ 285 Pro.

Thanks for letting us all know JF, the only reason I've not ordered these sooner is because of the price. You took away that excuse, so now there's a set on the way.

The set my dad ordered from the factory seconds sale on Thursday came in this morning and he already had them on his Weber Spirit E-330 grill flipping burgers when I got there this afternoon. No visible scratches or blemishes that we could see, but they varied in color some from each other and from the non-second gap panel he bought. Once he cooks a few times you won’t be able to tell.
