Left the gasser on all night

Usually my husband double checks me, at my request, but sometimes he's late to guard duty, not remembering to double check until bedtime.

On my Summit gasser, there are 8 knobs to check. Not too long ago, I left one of the burners on low--and I was almost sure I had double checked all of the knobs after cleaning the grates. Duh. I found the lit burner a couple of hours later when I went out to put the cover on. Felt like an idiot. The gasser is directly hooked up to our house propane line, so no empty tank to finally stop the burner. Now I'm in triple-check mode.

I figured out a foolproof way to keep this from happening to me ten years ago. I gave away my Weber gassers.

Dang. Now your gonna need to replace the gasser. Get a smart one that can turn off your grill and turn on you coffee pot at preset times.

I bought and installed a 3 hour gas timer valve for my dad who has been know to leave the nat gas BBQ going all night.
I don't think this is the exact model, but very similar.

My friend just told me that squirrels had gnawed into the gas line on his grill. Natural gas and realized that was a problem when he received the bill from the gas company. Took two visits from the gas company before they found the leak.

I have not done this yet. But I do need to cover the grill when done, so that is probably why
