I have clearance from the boss to get a new gas grill. I will be replacing a 5 burner Brinkman with a side burner (which I only used to light my charcoal chimney). For a cheap gas grill, I think it was around $400 at Home Depot, it performed very well. I know I want at least 4 burners, preferably 5. My price range is somewhere between $500-$700ish. I will only use this grill for quick cooks like burgers (for my over-sized extended family), hot dogs (for the grandkids), store bought smoked sausage etc.
Yes, I combed thru Jerod Broussard reviews... I want your opinions please. In the end, if nothing really stands out, I'll go buy another Brinkman.
Well for starters I'm pretty sure Brinkmann declared bankruptcy and stopped selling products. I recently picked up a Char-Broil Commercial Tru-Infrared from Lowes which has a gold star rating on the main AR site.
Mine is a 4 burner with a side burner and griddle for sides etc... So far so good but only been able to use it a few times since I got it.
You probably won't go wrong with a Weber, and they have some in your price range although the cooking surface might be a bit smaller than your Brinkman.
Cookers:
Oklahoma Joe Offset (older thick steel version!)
Camp Chef Woodwind
OK Joe Bronco
Weber Genesis
Ooni Karu
Weber Kettle
My goal is to eventually have at least one of every style of cooker….. I have work to do. Lol!
Thermometers:
ThermoWorks Thermapen MK4
ThermoWorks Thermapen ONE
ThermoWorks Thermopop
ThermoWorks RFX
ThermoWorks IRK-2 Infrared
Maverick XR-50
TempSpike Plus
Other Gear:
Megaforce 3000 Meat Grinder
Weston 7-pound sausage stuffer
Jerky Gun for making poppers. (Game changer!)
Amaz-N-Tube
Original SnS with drip n griddle
Weber Chimney
Fuels Used:
Splits/Chunks, whatever I can get. Usually B&B competition. Favorites are Cherry, Apple, Post Oak, and Hickory.
Pellets, Lumberjack.
Charcoal, whatever is on sale. Currently have a bunch of KBB. Will eventually try B&B. Use whatever lump is on sale in my Ooni.
Propane, Blue Rhino.
Rubs:
Usually make my own riff’s on Memphis Dust and BBBR. Also use Meathead’s commercial rubs and occasionally try something new. I like a couple from Tuffy Stone and Kinder’s. After several surgeries, I’m very sensitive to “spicy” stuff, so I need to be careful about heat levels.
I second jgreen. I bought a Weber Genesis several months ago and have been supremely happy with it. I use it mainly for quick cooks after a long day of work. I almost went with a Broil King, you may add that to your consideration list. It was rated very well on AR and the one at Lowes seemed to be a decent gasser. In fact if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on the Weber, I probably would have gotten the Broil King.
I can't say enough about my Saber, but I think that's more than you are wanting to spend. Charbroil and Weber both make good products in the range you are wanting to pay.
Weber Summit Kamado with SnS and Vortex.. Broil King Baron, Primo Oval Junior. Primo XL. Love grilling steaks, ribs, and chicken. Need to master smoked salmon. Absolutely love anything to do with baking bread. Favorite cool weather beer: Sam Adams Octoberfest Favorite warm weather beer: Yuengling Traditional Lager. All-time favorite drink: Single Malt Scotch
I would steer clear of Nexgrill myself. They are a cheapo brand sold in big box stores, and if you get one, you will likely be getting your "next grill" really soon! My neighbors hate theirs. I have checked them out at HD, and they feel really flimsy. Broil King has some good grills in your price range. The 4 burner Baron is reviewed on this site.

I recently got a 3 Embers grill from Tractor supply. I've cooked on it three times so far and love it. I wish I could give you a long term review, but I've only had it a couple of weeks, and it's a relatively new grill. It is offered at TSC, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, and Cabelas. Prices vary, but you should be able to get one around $499, with Lowes being the most expensive at $899. I got lucky and TSC had a father's day special of $399 and I couldn't pass it up. Very impressed so far with quality. There is another thread on here that has pictures if you are interested. Just find the 3 embers title.

Just another point, I bought my 3 Embers at Tractor Supply, and the models sold there come with soft-closing drawers and door, as well as a 3 Embers grill cover. Excellent add ons, at no extra charge. Actually, cheaper than any other place I can find.
I've had my Weber Genesis Silver for 10+ years. Parts are also easy to buy when you want to replace components which will give you a decade plus out of your gas grill. I just did a rebuild internally on mine.
I have to throw a vote in for the Weber. This is my second one. Replaced the innards of my first one a few times and I second the view that one of their big features is you can make them last a long time. I picked up the new Genesis II primarily because of the new flame system. In my old barbeques, the flame holes (the right name escapes me) were tiny holes that I would poke with a fork to clean every couple of years. In the new Genesis II they have a new flame system with really big upright holes that look like they will be much easier to service as well as long lasting. Everything on a Weber just works.
Maybe not worth the extra dollars if your only using it a minimal amount.
I'm very happy with the Broil King Signet 320. The only real downside are the stock cast-iron grates which have all the problems you'd expect from cast iron grates. However Grill Grates work on them very well. As replacement grates they are only well supported with the flat side down and the ridge side up so you might want to buy additional plates if you want to grill on the flat side.

I have a Weber Genesis Silver, bought about 2001. I've changed burners and flavorizer bars several times, and it's always been a champ, in Colorado and Oklahoma. That said, I'm looking to replace it - silly reason, but the dogs like to get at the grease collector at the bottom, and finally destroyed the widget that holds the drip pan.
So, I'm looking at something like the Weber E310, with an enclosed drip pan. I *don't* need a side burner. I've got three horizontal burners, don't think I need more but I'd listen to reason. I cook chicken thighs and tri-tip, and bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, etc., over the indirect middle burner.
Here's the weird thing. Shortly after I bought the Genesis, my wife bought me a rotisserie designed to go with it. Sixteen years later, I finally used it. It's pretty cool. But She Who Must Be Obeyed (of 39 years), wants me to make sure that any replacement can use the rotisserie she bought me for a birthday present.
