I bought my tank at Tractor Supply and had it filled. It was convenient, and the young man carried the tank to my car.
I have a question about my LP hose. When I picked it up, the round metal piece that looks like a space ship has something rattling inside of it. Is that normal or do I need to just ditch it and get a new hose?
The rattle sounds like paint can or nail polish mixing beads.
Ace Thanks. I looked and didn't find anything specific mentioning a rattle. So, based on what you found, I am guessing something is loose in the regulator. I was tempted to go to the store and shake a few to see if they made noise.
I don't know if that hose is covered by Blaze. I can send them an e-mail, but there is no telling how long it would take to receive a new one if it is covered. I can fork out a few bucks for a new hose.
dpearce Both you and my brother mentioned a moving piece in the regulator that could be making the noise I was hearing. My new hose arrived and makes the same noise, but it was loud enough I could hear it while it was still in the shipping box, so I went to the store and checked another one to verify. It made a similar noise. I probably should have just done that to begin with. All is good. Thanks for your input.
Carolyn I wasn't sure, but I know there's a "slight rattle" at the hose end near the regulator to my hose connections to my gas grill and turkey fryer, both of which were new at some point. I have to really shake it though. I figured our vast knowledge base of propane experts might be better able to help you, and it seems they did give you the "better safe than sorry" advice. Glad you've been able to work through it and it sounds like your grill will be up and running soon!

I have had many propane devices. Have never encountered regulator rattling. Have represented a national propane company in local litigation re propane accidents.
Don't dick around with it (legal term). Replace, one way or another.
yakima There is a statement in their literature about the required regulator, but I have no clue what it means. I think they should send me a replacement. I'll find out on Monday if it is covered.
That's good news about the replacement. They have sent me replacement parts that failed on mine at no cost, and I bought mine used! Blaze has excellent customer service.

yakima Yes, I did and it makes the same noise, so I checked several at the store, and they all do the same thing. It reminds me of a nail polish bottle with mixing beads in it or if you are my age, a Hula Hoop with "shoop shoop" sound. Hey, maybe Whamo makes these regulators. π (It isn't that loud. The parts are tiny. π)
My brother and dpearce mentioned there is a moving part in there, so that is probably the culprit. I am confident the hoses are ok after checking several at two stores, so I hooked it up yesterday and tested it without any problems arising.
Ace My brother always took stuff apart to see how things worked. I would take things apart once they broke.
I had a pink Shoop Shoop Hula Hoop that was a Christmas present. It got a lot of use for such a simple toy. We rolled it down the driveway, tossed it onto things/people. I might have used it as a jump-rope of sorts or tried to anyway.
RichieB I can't say I mastered the hoop like they showed on tv with people twirling them on their arms, waist, and neck all at the same time. You can only Hula Hoop so much. I think that is why we did so many other things with it.
Need to decide what to throw on the grill. π€π₯
I had a feeling that the ball bearing was what was the rattle you were hearing. Gas lines arenβt terribly complicated. Manufacturers adhere to pretty strict standards, and usually use major suppliers for their products. Iβd be surprised if you had a defective valve. By the way, Iβm like your brother, I tend to tear apart stuff just to see how it works. My dad never let me have a screwdriver.
