    How to occupy my time...

How do I occupy my time while waiting for my Ooni Karu 12 to ship? I've already fed my sourdough starter, bought an infrared thermometer (been wanting one for a while, just kept putting it off), read/downloaded almost every pizza/flatbread recipe that I found (and liked), joined the Ooni subreddit, and the Ooni community... Annnnd, it's only December 1st and it's supposed to ship mid-December.

Been trying to figure out the wood situation. Found a couple places online that sell "Pizza Oven Wood Splits" for what I would call ungodly prices. So, after a trip to Harbor Freight and Get Your Grill On (my local dealer for all things grill/wood/charcoal/pellets)... I now have pizza oven wood splits. For an ungodly price. After the third bag of splits from Get Your Grill On, the price starts going from ungodly to pretty reasonable.

I like that splitter. I see two handles. Is that for double speed piston movement?
What brand and where did you get it?

Yeah, I'm interested in the splitter too? Where did you get it?

        Looks like Harbor Freight $125.

Not sure how I missed that you mentioned harbor freight in your original post.

It's a Harbor Freight special, 10 ton manual hydraulic. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-ton...ter-67090.html

The two handles do nothing special, each handle pumps the piston. You can pump them both simultaneously, pump them one at a time, or only pump one handle. Near as I can tell, the exact same amount of piston movement/force happens regardless. I would alternate handles as if I was skiing, which seemed to hit the best balance of speed/not getting tired.

Did some more splitting today. It seems the left handle moves the piston with slightly more force/speed than the right handle. For really tough splits, I couldn't pump the left handle at all, and had to do a bunch of pumps with the right handle. It was like down shifting.

Well I went out and bought load of unsplit pine and a hydraulic splitter from a guy on craigslist. Igot the Sun joe which is a little step up from the harbor freight one for $100. Now I have a bunch of wood to split this weekend!

Nice. I started with the bag of splits from the grill place as a "proof of concept" if you will. There's guys all over FB Marketplace/Craigslist selling all kinds of hardwood. My wife pointed out we dropped some pretty sizeable branches from our Oak Tree. She went into our firepit pile and started separating it out. I figure it only gets cheaper from here. I only went with Harbor Freight because they're the ones that had it in stock
