    Got Me Some Wood!!!

no, No, NO!!! Not like dat! Git yer minds outta th' gutter...

Went n picked me up a partial truckload o' hickory, filled up th' Bourbon bout mid-windows, from my noggin, to th' barn doors. $70. 00 for ~ 80 cf, if yer interested. .546875 cord, way I figger it, if ya wanna git technical...

(Cain't have no Stickburner, without havin' me some more sticks, right?) Right!

Despite the fact that th' Bourbon is a factory tow package (Heavy Half-Ton), and I added Monroe coilover shocks on all 4 corners (1200#/axle+ to GVW), it squatted her down ~3-4 inches in the haunches.

Plus : Reckon traction ain't gonna be such a big deal, this winter.
Minus: Sure hurts my ET's, from the line! Prob break some drivetrain stuff, if I persist drivin' like I usually do! And I will!

Are you going to soak them over night?

Oh, to further Jerod's inquisitiveness, that red thang made it through even though space was of a premium! Hmmmmm!

Dang good eye, there, Jerod Broussard !!! Th' red n' white thingamajig is actually a rather large HDPE firestarter cube, that I carry in th' Bourbon, jus' in case a spontaneous bonfire breaks out.
I gotta remember to remove alla th' glass medicine cabinet shelves that are inside it, before I chuck it in th' fire...

I bet that hickory makes a better air freshener then a hangup pine tree!

Nice load. I used to load up my old S10 that way way hauling firewood.

        Jus' a guess!

Well, until it seasons out, I'm not exackly sure what t' tell ya'. I'm gonna test burn some this week/weekend, see what I think, but it could t' dry some, in my opinion. I'll give ya' an estimate then... Fair enough, Nate ?

I'm just stockin' up, while I gotta good source for hickory. I'll prolly lay in 3-5 cords, afore all is said n' done. Get it seasonin', give away lots to my friends/ family. That's how we all roll...

Fair enough... I luck out and my father in law lets me store/season my wood pile out at his house. Since he has wood burning furnace he has stack anyway and keeps back good pieces he finds and puts them in my stacks.

Sounds like you have a great father in law. Always a plus! Never screw that deal up... still good with mine, 33 yrs later.

I unloaded ~ 1/3-1/2 tonight, after work, post initial cold Guinness.
I do know it brought th' Blue Belle up 2" in her rear suspension. (Yes I measured, everything is an experiment, right?)
She's gotta be breathin' a sigh of relief, and after unloadin' th' rest, most likely t'morrow, in another spot, we kin' go back t' Street Racin', some... $$$$$$ Gotta pay fer that MCS somehow, right? Click image for larger version

Pile is slightly > 8', avg 24" in height, stacked pretty tight, vs criss-cross. A goodly amount o' wood, we sez!

Those are the size piles I get, and they last me close to a year...but I'll add the caveat that that's using kettles for much/most of my cooking too. Should be a good ten low & slow cooks I'd guesstimate.

              Super Cool! Love that wood.

I'm going to get a couple chords of Oak from a real firewood plant about an hour away later this week.
