Okay, ribeyeguy, I'd be nervous if my just ordered wood came in with an aroma! Properly dried wood does not have an odor. If it does, it's been sprayed with something to make it smell. Ain't natural!
Check out Vaughn Wood! I ordered a box of their grapevine chunks and they are awesome, about fist sized!http://www.vaughnwoodproducts.com
Hi CandySue,
The aroma was overwhelming, it was almost like a strong peach incense scent. It's since dissipated and has no odor at all but it bugs me that it might have been sprayed with something. Would you recommend not using it?
Let it out-gas. It should be fine, but you could burn some afterwards and see how the smoke smells. Generally, it's bad form to use something that's not food safe spraying BBQ wood. I confess, we spray a bit of whiskey in our one pound Jack Daniel's pellet bags. People just expect it to smell.

I do have a box of Vaughns that someone got me for Christmas, no detectable odor in that one. Maybe I'll just burn through that one first.
