    Jealous Devil "Blox", anyone use?

100% white oak, no additives or fillers. These are essentially giant pellets, yet they're not "pellets" in the traditional sense so I didn't put this in the Pellets sub-channel.

Has anyone here used them? Thoughts?

I picked up a box last year mainly to help add some BTUs and longevity in my stickburner on all-day cooks, but haven't gotten around to doing any testing. They claim wood-fired falvor and all that, which I am of course highly skeptical of as many of you might be too.

I will say they swell up comically large then completely fall apart making a big mess on your deck rail and deck floor if you leave them out in the rain. This I have tested!

    For sale at Home Depot.

I have not used these as logs, but here is a write up of a one time test I did for the the briquette version..
I never did do a follow up test. Maybe soon I will. Most of my grilling happens on work nights, so I stick to tried and true methods to be able to get dinner on the table in a reasonable time frame..

Edit to add that my post was a year ago Sunday.
Tis the season for new product breakouts, I guess

I'd certainly like to try fill up my gravity feed charcoal smoker with these. However, as of yet these are not available in Canada...

      Edit:
I take that back. They are available right here in my hometown! I think I'll try an experiment this weekend!

BOO! I didn't know that. I saw the popup box and that's as far as I got. Thanks for that. I'll remove the link from above.

Just for research purposes, I checked you tube for any videos reviewing these.
It looks like these have been around for at least a few years, although previously in a different configuration.

Here is a video from 4 years ago. The product is noted as Blox, but it is somewhat different...

This video is from 7 months ago and shows the Blox as they are configured now.

Both videos offer positive reviews of the product.

What Finster said. Yup, I thought I would try just the same. Here is the reply I got to my inquiry:

Thank you for reaching out — we’re excited to hear you’re interested in BLOX!

Our sample program is destined to food service accounts and other commercial operations with physical business locations actively using fuel products in their operations. To help us confirm eligibility, could you please share your business name and delivery address, along with a bit about how you’d be using BLOX?

If your request doesn’t fall within these parameters, we’d still love for you to experience BLOX. You can find it available for purchase online through Home Depot at this link:
Jealous Devil BLOX on Home Depot

BLOX is 100% natural kiln-dried white oak — clean-burning, bark-free, USA-made, and engineered for serious heat and performance. Each 28 lb block is designed as a replacement for wood in open-fire cooking, delivering more heat with less hassle and cost.

We truly appreciate your passion for BBQ and your support of Jealous Devil. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

          All the best,

It'd be nice if that link on their site's front page specified this BEFORE mining people's email addresses. Sigh...

I may, or may not, have said it as politely as you
