I have a Pin Cherry tree in my yard that will need to come down. Is anyone familiar with the species? Since it produces an edible fruit (the pits and leaves are toxic) I was wondering if it could safely be used as a smoke wood? I believe the wood is softer & ,ore porous than typical cherry wood.

efincoop, I think if you do a Search for Smoking Wood Species you will find some helpful info! As all Smoke is Poisonous per Dr. Blonder but worth the Risk for the Flavor! I firmly believe You will be OK using the Wood in Your Smoker!
